The catalytic converters that come included with stock Triumphs are designed to restrict the flow of exhaust with additional packing, resulting in a quieter, dampened, “sewing machine” engine sound. Installing an X-Pipe motorcycle performance exhaust in its place lightens up your bike and frees up the flow of air, resulting in an instantly louder growl in your exhaust tone, increased engine performance, and weight savings.
Note: This part requires a tune for your bike. For more information about tuning, please see our tuning guide.
We’ve taken the guesswork out of installation by using the stock locating pin and left side frame bolt for a factory fit, and we eliminated the need for gaskets with a notched, slip fit design. This stainless steel motorcycle exhaust is handmade in our shop in Gardena, CA, where it is crafted from 304 stainless steel, mandrel bent, cut, and TIG welded on site.
FEATURES
Crafted from 304 Stainless Steel, mandrel bent, cut then TIG Welded all in Gardena, California
1.9 lbs (3.8lb savings over the stock catalytic converter)
Uses stock locating pin and left side frame bolt for a factory fit
Motorcycle performance exhaust that offers more growl and power while reducing heat and weight
Note: Tuning is recommended. See our Tuning Guide for more details.
For Thruxton RS: The X-Pipe for the Thruxton RS model will include a new left and right mid-pipe, since the factory mid-pipes are welded onto the catalytic converter for these models.
2021+ (EURO-5) models: Some 2021+ models may not work with the X-Pipe, since newer models have the intermediate/mid-pipes welded onto the catalytic converter. To verify this, check under your bike from the front of the frame to confirm if your intermediate/mid-pipe is welded on or fastened by a band clamp. Please see Competition Headers for this 21+ application.

Fitment
Designed to work with ...
Tested and developed alongside the BC slip-on exhaust lineup. The fitment, flow, and sound profile are built around this combination.
Removing the cat shifts the power band. The Euro 5 catalytic converter adds restriction to the exhaust system, and that restriction helps exhaust scavenging in the 2,000 to 4,500 RPM range where a Triumph parallel twin does most of its work. Remove the cat, and that backpressure drops. The power band shifts upward: you gain breathing room at higher RPM, but you will likely feel less mid-range pull in the range you use most at street speeds.
The degree of that shift depends on your setup. With the stock ECU and no tune, some riders notice it more than others. With an ECU remap, you can recover the low-end character and improve the overall curve. If low-to-mid torque is what you value most about your Triumph, plan for the tune before you install.
Do I need an ECU tune?
Not required to install, but recommended. The stock Triumph ECU will adapt to some degree, but it will not fully compensate for the changed exhaust characteristics at mid-range RPM. A tune lets you dial fueling and ignition timing to match the open exhaust, recovering low-end performance and cleaning up deceleration behavior. If you plan to run this kit without a tune, be prepared for some changes in throttle response and mid-range feel.
Is this kit compatible with my aftermarket slip-ons?
This kit has been tested with British Customs slip-on exhausts only. We are not able to confirm compatibility with third-party aftermarket slip-ons. Slip-on mounting configurations vary by manufacturer, and we do not maintain a list of confirmed third-party fitments. If you are running another brand's slip-ons, we recommend contacting us before purchasing.
Is it a bolt-on install or does it require cutting?
Bolt-on. Euro 5 Triumphs have the catalytic converter welded into the factory mid-pipe assembly, which leads some riders to assume the decat process requires cutting or permanent modification. It does not. This kit replaces the entire factory Euro 5 mid-pipe and cat assembly as a complete unit, using existing mounting points with the included stainless clamps. No cutting, no welding, no permanent modification to the frame or header pipes.
Will it be too loud?
Yes. This kit significantly increases exhaust sound. If noise level is a concern for you, this is not the right modification. The decat mid-section opens the exhaust system in a way that produces noticeable volume increase, not just tonal character change.
If you want the quietest possible setup while still running aftermarket exhaust, the BC Predator Pro 2.0 with the DB Killer installed is the lowest-volume option in our lineup. That said, even with a DB Killer, we do not recommend this combination for riders where sound level is a primary concern. The stock mid-section and slip-ons will always be the quietest option.
Is this legal for road use?
No. This product is designed for competition use only and is not legal for use on public roads or highways. Removing the catalytic converter does not comply with emissions regulations. Purchase and installation are the responsibility of the buyer. Not available for sale in California.
Is it reversible?
Yes. Because this is a complete bolt-on replacement with no cutting or permanent modification required, the factory mid-pipe and cat assembly can be reinstalled. Keep your stock parts if you want the option to return to the original configuration.

Sound is great! Install took about 2 hours but I enjoy wrenching so found it fun (make sure you have t-55 bit. Had to take quick run to parts store). I'd say weight savings and power increase are noticeable. Only issue is that exhaust spits out a little black smoke which I believe means it might be running a little rich. I found this strange since I followed the recommended process of leaving the engine running until cooling fan turned on before riding, which I was told allows the ECU to learn of airflow changes and adjust itself. Would be great to hear from someone from BC about this! Even if remap is needed I'd still say it's the best product I've installed on my t-120.
Just installed the x pipe and the bike sound just deeper and growls ! Performance wise it feel more responsive and maybe a bit more torque but couldn’t test it long enough yesterday from de garage to home. Time will tell !
I can’t personally say that I’ve noticed much or at all in performance but I can say it makes the bike a little louder along with sounding better and that’s what I really wanted it for anyway. No issues with the product and it looks nice. On a side note British Customs always ship their products out very quickly. That’s a plus.
