How To Build A Scrambler On A Budget

How To Build A Scrambler On A Budget - British Customs Blog

Scramblers were the original adventure bikes. Since they didn’t make purpose-built dirt bikes back in the day, if you wanted to take your bike off the road and out exploring, you modified your street bike and got out there. They were even used in old school off-road races called hare scrambles by icons like Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins.  You can do it the same way they did it with a quick weekend project, and without breaking the bank.

The first step is to pull off everything you don’t need to shed some weight, improve handling, and increase horsepower. Then, you should throw on a proper bench seat, some upright handlebars, high header exhaust, and, of course, knobblies. These four upgrades will improve your ergonomics, handling, and engine performance drastically.

If you want to take your build a step further, you should check out our Scrambler Style Guide.
